Sexting Extortion

Last year we heard back-to-back accounts of teenagers who’d been catfished into sending naked pics of themselves and then blackmailed.

One of the babies killed themselves and I could not imagine the pain his parents were going through and the terror he must have felt.

I started reading articles online regarding and saw where the FBI had an alert on their site warning parents all about it: Sextortion

We decided it was time to have the conversation with our nephew regarding catfishing and extortion.

A family meeting was called.

I’d done all of the necessary reading, of course, so I started the talk. I basically told him all of the things that the FBI site said to say and our nephew was like…okay…I got it…I understand…

I turned it over to Robby asking if he wanted to add anything and he said…

“Look, if you’re dumb enough to send a naked pic of yourself to somebody on the internet and they try and blackmail you just know that your d*ck won’t be the first nor the last on the internet and if they got anything else to say, take a pic of your azz and sent that to them and tell them to kiss it! Then come tell us and we’re gonna contact the FBI!”

Everybody froze.

And then we burst out laughing because only Robby would say something like that and mean it! LOLOL! I totally think we won’t have to worry about the kid being sextorted.

I already know something is wrong with us. No need to point it out. :)

Have you had the talk yet? Do they get it? Do you know someone this has happened to?
